Obituary for Robert D. Young

Robert D. Young, 74, of South Buffalo Township, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, while in the company of family members, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Bob was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Butler, a son of the late Alva and Lila (Jordan) Young. He graduated from Arnold High School. After graduation, he served in the Navy for four years. He was a steelworker at Allegheny Ludlum 8-7 department in Natrona for many years. Bob was a member of the Tarentum Eagles, was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, trips to local casinos and following Freeport and other school districts sports teams. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lugene S. (Shaner) Young; daughter, Melinda (Daniel) Porter, of Helena, Ala.; son, Robert (Kelly Kutsch and her son, Brody) Young, of South Buffalo Township; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Leah Porter; sister, Shirley Young, of Apollo; and his brother, Thomas (Gloria) Young, of Apollo. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, in the funeral home with the Rev. James G. Young officiating. Burial will be held at the Union McVille Cemetery in South Buffalo Twp.

Jane E. Thompson, 94, of Buffalo Twp. passed away on Saturday, December 19th, while in the company of family members, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot. Jane was born in Derry, PA on March 20, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Catherine (Kaeff) and George Smay and was the last of 13 children. She was the widow of Wayne G. Thompson. They were married in November of 1939 and had been married for 55 years before his passing in May of 1994. Jane, her husband and their young family lived in Blairsville for many years before moving into the Freeport area in the 1960's. Jane was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family and providing a wonderful home for them. Jane was an active member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America (St. Theresa Court, Blairsville), Christian Mothers and the Freeport Evening Club. Jane was an avid bowler. She and her husband had been members of many leagues over the years at the old Plaza Lanes in Natrona Heights. Jane is survived by her 3 sons; Charles William (Lois) Thompson, of Blairsville, James Ronald (Peggy) Thompson, of Longwood, Fl. and Thomas Eugene (Rhonda) Thompson, of Sunbury, OH. 3 daughters; Jane (Bruce) Dallara, of Saftety Harbor, FL., Teresa (Thomas) Love, of Creigton and Christina (Richard) Winters, of South Buffalo Twp She is also survived by her 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and many extended nieces and nephews. Jane is preceded in death by her son, Wayne Robert Thompson. Her grandson, Thomas J. Love. Her 5 brothers; George, Charles, Francis and 2 in infancy. 7 sisiters; Helen & Elizabeth Smay in childhood. Rita Smay in infancy. Catherine Kick, Mary Magdalene Smay, Zeta Wilson and Margaret Smay who helped raise her after the death of their mother. Family and friends will be received on Monday Dec. 21st. from 1-3 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 22nd with Father Ronald Maquinana, officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Mother of God Church 608 High St. Freeport, PA 16229 or to a charity of your choice.

Gail F. Wagner 73 of Winfield Twp. passed away on Saturday Dec. 19th. Gail was born in Columbus OH on January 31, 1942. She was the daughter of the Russell F. and Gertrude (Mayer) Andrews. Gail worked for many years as a nursing home administrator for various nursing facilities in the area. She had also worked as the manager for the GNC store in West Kittanning. Gail always enjoyed horses and horseback riding but her greatest love was her family. Gail is survived by her 3 sons, Vance (Elaine) Wagner of Saxonburg, Scott (Diane) Wagner of Hudson CO, Lee (Corrine) Wagner of Pittsburgh and her daughter, Kelly (John) Lucas of Saxonburg. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and her 2 sisters, Patricia Brown of Perry FL and Marcia (Harrier) Parker of Perry FL. A private family visitation and burial service has been held. Gail was buried in the Butler Co. Memorial Park in Butler. Barbara E. Hoak, 65, of the Laneville section of Freeport, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh. Barb was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Natrona Heights, the daughter of the late Grace (Ross) and Andrew Dutch. She was the widow of Stanley M. Hoak, who passed in 2012. She had worked in assembly for MedRad Indianola for a number of years. Barb was an avid reader and always enjoyed meeting her friends at McDonald's for a bite to eat. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Harry Deiseroth, of New Kensington; her two nephews, Michael A. Deiseroth, of Lower Burrell, and Brian J. Deiseroth, of Canonsburg; and her faithful companion, her dog, Angel. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Edith Mae Bocchi, 78, of Cabot, passed away at 2:10 PM, Tuesday, December 29th, peacefully, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit in Cabot. Edith was born in the Slate Lick section of Armstrong Co. on February 15, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Goldie (Sarver) and Harold Shaw. Edith was the widow of Paul J. Bocchi who passed in 1999. Edith was the office manager for the USX Credit Union in Cabot for 25 years. She retired in 1999. Edith was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot and she enjoyed shopping, seeing shows and going out to eat with friends. Edith is survived by her 3 daughters; Anna (George) McShane, of Saxonburg, Patricia Norton, of Albian, PA and Brandi (William) Brooks, of Houston, PA. Her 2 sons Christopher Bocchi, of New Bethlehem and Joseph Bocchi of Sarver. She is also survived bye her 2 grandchildren; sister Gladys (Ed) Wilbert, of Fennelton and 2 brothers; Ralph Shaw, of Penn Twp. and Robert (Martha) Shaw, of Georgia. At the family's request there will be no public visitation and the burial will be private. Goldie Ann Buterbaugh, 81, of South Buffalo Twp, passed away on Saturday, January 2nd, while in the company of family members, at her home. Goldie was born in White Twp., Indiana PA on July 17, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Goldie (McQuiston) and Clarence C. McHenry, Sr. Goldie was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. She also like flower gardening, painting and was an amazing wood worker. She was a faithful member of Srader Grove Presbyterian Church in South Buffalo Twp. Goldie was also a member of the 3 Rivers Hillbilly Clan # 53. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Buterbaugh. Their 2 sons; James (Nadene) Buterbaugh, of South Buffalo Twp and Ken (Darla) Buterbaugh, of South Buffalo Twp. Goldie is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, L. Wayne McHenry, Clarence C. McHenry, Jr. and her sister, Ruth Kelly. Aaron Merrill Myers, 44, of Jefferson Township, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Butler County Memorial Hospital. Aaron was born June 24, 1971, in Natrona Heights. He was a son of Christine (Janura) Pavone and James W. Myers. Aaron was a 1989 graduate of Freeport Area High School and was a 1995 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his bachelor's degree in chemistry. He was working as a technical sales manager for Lockhart Chemicals in Flint, Mich. Aaron was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his fiancee's son, Alec. They enjoyed time together in the outdoors and especially on the farm where they were going to build their house. Aaron is survived by his father, James W. Myers, of South Buffalo Township; his mother and stepfather, Christine and Harry Pavone, of Verona; his fiancee, Jodi L. Shaw-Wray and her son, Alec, with whom he lived in Jefferson Township; and his sister, Michelle Myers-SeNay, of Verona, and her children, Sarah and Sydney SeNay. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jerry and Sandy Shaw, of The Villages, Fla.; sister-in-law, Lori and Todd Perschke, of Saxonburg, and their children, Natalie and Anne Perschke; and his brother-in-law, Tom and Melissa Shaw, of Oxford, Fla., and their children, Mitchell, Cole and Delaney. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Buddy and Bodhi. Aaron is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother-in-law, Shawn Michel. Family and friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2015, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., in Freeport. John E. Ciesielski, 74, of South Buffalo Township, formerly of New Kensington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, while in the company of family members, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. John was born Dec. 15, 1941, in New Kensington, a son of the late Anna (Listwak) and Edward Ciesielski. John was a 1963 graduate of Slippery Rock University, where he was a four-year letterman in football. He received his Masters of Education from West Virginia University in 1967. He was a math teacher at Woodland Hills for 30 years, retiring in 1993. John also coached football at Woodland Hills and Plum High School. He was the owner and operator of Jolar Galleries Antique Store and Jolar Armory in New Kensington for more than 30 years. John enjoyed his farm (especially his ginny hens and his goat), hunting, fishing, traveling and antiquing. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie (McGregor) Ciesielski; daughter, Laura (Chuck) Ankeny, of Longmont, Colo.; son, John (Mary) Ciesielski Jr., of Irmo, S.C.; granddaughter, Emma Ciesielski; and grandsons, Zennon and Matthew Baun. Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. until services at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Davis, of Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Dale R. Aggers, 85, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Monday, January 11th, while in the company of family members, at Allegheny Gerneral Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dale was born in Pittsburgh on September 2, 1930. He was the son of the late Anna (Ewing) and Edwin Aggers. Dale was a 1948 graduate of Freeport High School where he was a letterman in football, basketball and baseball. Dale enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War. After the war he came home and went worked for the Daughtery Co. in Freeport for 40 years as a sheet metal worker, retiring in 1992. He was a long time and active member of Freeport United Methodist Church. Dale was a member of the Armstrong Lodge #239 in Freeport for over 40 years. He was a 50 year member of the Sheet Metal Workers, Local 12 in Pittsburgh. Dale was a private pilot for many years and enjoyed taking fights out of McVille Airport. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Avanell S. "Avie" (Sweeny) Aggers. Their 3 children; Don R. (Mary) Aggers, of Vermilion, OH, Debra (Gary) Shearn, of Freemont, OH and Barbara (Jeffrey) Graham, of New Kensington. Dale is also survived by his 3 granddaughters, Kimberly (Derek) Warren, Emily (Kevin) Munoz and Hannah Graham and his 2 great grandchildren, Catherine Munoz and Bryce Warren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald R. Aggers and his sister, Margaret "Peg" Robinson. Luella was born in Winfield Twp. on May 20, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Luella (Savage) and William Sims. She was the widow of H. Lynn Smock, Sr. who passed in December of 2015. Luella was a active and faithful was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church. Luella enjoyed going dancing with her husband, crocheting, camping and riding her scooter. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Luella is survived by her 2 sons; Howard Lynn & Mary Smock, Jr, of Buffalo Twp. and Gerald A. & Cheryl Smock, of Winfield Twp. Her grandchildren; Tracy Smock & Greg King, Jennifer (Travis) Pearce, Nathan (Chloe) Smock, Heather (Tim) Buck, Jason (Melissa) Smock and Michael (Becky) Smock. Luella is also survived by his 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by his son Larry J. Smock, who passed away in 1991. Ella Mae was born in South Buffalo Twp. on her family's farm on November 9, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Irene A. (Watson) and John H. Hughes. Ella was a long time member of Freeport United Methodist Church and a member Order of the Eastern Star. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed quilting, knitting, puzzle books and spending time with her family. Ella Mae is survived by her husband of 72 years, Benjamin Harrison Beale. Her three sons Larry (Beverly) Beale, of Oklahoma Boro., Thomas (Phyllis) Beale, of Butler Twp., Roger (Susan) Beale, of South Buffalo Twp. and her daughter, Elaine (Scott) Morrison, of South Buffalo Twp. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gary (Kelly) Beale, Michelle (Matthew) Baker, Chad (Nicole) Beale, Ben Morrison & Lauren (Tod Virden) Morrison. Glenn L. Woods, Sr., 86, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Monday, January 18th,2016 peacefully, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Glenn was born in Lower Burrell on December 4, 1929. He was the son of the late Violet M. (Harpster) and Jacob M. Woods. Glenn was a steel worker for US Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. Glenn had also worked for a number of years as a coal miner. Glenn enjoyed hunting, bee keeping, gardening, traveling, fixing up old lawn mowers and cars. Glenn is survived by his son, Gary Woods of Akron, OH, his daughter, Debra (Donald) Knisley of Mogadore, OH, Daughter in law, Kimberly Woods of Buffalo Twp. Glenn is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Tracy Deck, Sherry (Scott) Ohlin, Wade (Holly) Woods, Laura (Nick) Woods, Melinda (Rodney) Geffert, Brad Knisley and Katrina Woods and 15 great grandchildren. Eleanor Louise Hartman, 80, of Kittanning, passed away on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 peacefully, at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. Eleanor was born in South Buffalo Twp., Armstrong Co. on December 31, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Verna Louise (Smock) and Samuel Hartman. Eleanor was in the Class of 1953 at Freeport High School. She enjoyed doing embroidery, drawing and sing the old songs form the 50's. She had been along time member of Rogers Chapel in South Buffalo Twp.. She is survived by her 6 Sisters Ruth Jean Conaway, of Ford City, Mary Etta Claypoole, of Worthington, Edith (Paul) Miller, of Kittanning, Esther (Wayne) Porter, of South Buffalo Twp., Pauline Rosborough, of Kittanning, Karen Cobbett, of Ford City and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded by her infant brother, Thomas Hartman Family and friends will be received on Thursday January 21st from 2-4 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Stanley T. "Tom" Malkey, Jr., 72, of Freeport, passed away on Saturday, January 23rd, while in the company of family members, at the Butler VA Medical Center in Butler. Tom was born in Natrona Heights, on July 7, 1943, a son of the late Deloris (Laisure) and Stanley T. Malkey, Sr. He served in, and retired from, the U.S. Navy. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. Tom was a member of the Freeport Sportsman's Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Carol (Kreider) Malkey; his children: son John T. (Malou) Malkey, of Knob Noster, MO; daughter Mindy (Pastor Joel) Benson, of Gibsonia; son Todd (Amanda) Malkey, of Kittanning; 7 grandchildren Mark & Mathew Malkey, Madelyn (Chris) Howe, Adam (Ashley) Benson, Mara Benson, Mackenzie & Mackayla Malkey; 2 great granddaughters Ashlynn & Jocelynn Howe. John P. Bono, 95, of Buffalo Twp. passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 29th, 2016. John was born in Torino, Italy on January 1, 1921. He was the son of the late Catherine and Anthony Bono. John served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. After the war John came home and went to work for PPG in Creighton for 22 years. He then worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Bagdad for another 22 years, retiring in 1986. He was a faithful member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. John enjoyed gardening, traveling and going out dancing with his wife. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lola F. (Pofi) Bono. His children, Amy & Bob Holbein, Sr . and Tom & LuAnn Bono, all Buffalo Twp.
