John P. Bono, 95, of Buffalo Twp. passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 29th, 2016. John was born in Torino, Italy on January 1, 1921. He was the son of the late Catherine and Anthony Bono. John served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. After the war John came home and went to work for PPG in Creighton for 22 years. He then worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Bagdad for another 22 years, retiring in 1986. He was a faithful member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. John enjoyed gardening, traveling and going out dancing with his wife. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lola F. (Pofi) Bono. His children, Amy & Bob Holbein, Sr . and Tom & LuAnn Bono, all Buffalo Twp. He is preceded by his 2 sisters, Carrie Cassalini and Mary Bono A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport at 11:00 am on Monday, February 1st, with Father Ronald Maquinana officiating.
